Inter Miami defeated Charlotte FC 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the MLS Leagues Cup and they will face the Philadelphia Union on Tuesday.
Miami continued a positive trend since they signed one of the greatest football players in the world.
Do you want to know the scariest part? It looked like Miami didn’t need Messi to win today’s match.
Lionel Messi just scored the fourth and final goal in the Inter Miami vs Charlotte match in the 88th minute.
Before that, Miami got three goals from Josef Martinez, Robert Taylor, and one own goal by a Charlotte player.
Martinez, a Venezuelan striker, scored the first goal in the Inter Miami vs Charlotte FC match from a penalty kick.
Then Taylor doubled the lead in the 32nd minute after converting a perfect pass from DeAndre Yedlin.
The third goal occurred in the 78th minute thanks to Miami’s offensive pressure.
During the match, Miami fully controlled the match by having 62.2% possession and out-passed Charlotte FC 702-413.
Their goalkeeper Drake Callender didn’t need to make a save until midway through the second half.
Before the arrival of Lionel Messi, Inter Miami had the worst performance in the MLS with a 5-3-14 record.
However, we are watching a massive turnaround as Miami has scored 17 goals in the last five matches.
Messi has scored eight and assisted on three of those goals.
