Student Loan Forgiveness: 9 Million People Received Error Emails

President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan is still on hold since it faced multiple legal challenges from six Republican-led states.

But that’s not the only problem.

On November, 9 million borrowers received error emails that indicated their applications were approved.

In fact, those student loan forgiveness applications haven’t even been reviewed yet.

The error email was sent between 22 and 23 November by the US Department of Education.

But agency Accenture Federal Services did create the error and misleading subject line.

The email subject line read, “Your Student Loan Debt Relief Application Has Been Approved.”

It should’ve said something more general, like, “Your Application Has Been Submitted.”

However, the information in the email body was correct.

After all, the applicants started receiving correction emails this week saying their applications were not approved yet.

The Biden administration’s student loan forgiveness plan is now on hold since the Supreme Court will take care of its legality next year.

Therefore, there won’t be any decision related to the debt cancellation application.

In addition, payments on federal loans and interest will also continue to be on hold.

President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan will erase federal student loan borrowers’ debt up to $20,000.

Borrowers must earn less than $125,000/year (individual) or $250,000/year (married couples) to be eligible for the program.
