US actor Alan Arkin, who won a Bafta and an Oscar for his memorable role in the film Little Miss Sunshine, passed away aged 89.

Arkin’s death was confirmed by his sons Matthew, Adam, and Anthony in a family statement on Friday.
He also voiced JD Salinger from 2015 to 2016 in the famous Netflix animated series BoJack Horseman.
Paul Reiser, Arkin’s co-star in another Netflix series The Kominsky Method, tweeted that “a world without Alan Arkin is… not so great.”
Michael McKean, a Spinal Tap star, also paid tribute to him by saying Arkin inspired him to become an actor.
He also described Arkin as “hilarious, charming, and armed with a flawless detector.”
Arkin, the Los Angeles-raised actor, had acting lessons from childhood, but he started his music career.
He sang and played guitar in a folk band called The Tarries.
The Tarries scored a top-five hit in 1956 by singing The Banana Boat Song, which was later made famous by Harry Belafonte.
Alan Arkin’s acting career began on Broadway when he appeared in the play Enter Laughing in 1963, which gave him a Tony Award for best actor.
He became famous by appearing in The Russians Are Coming and The Heart is a Lonely Hunter.
