Just a few years ago, Tesla’s impressive range and charismatic boss made most people want to purchase its electric cars.
Elon Musk was a vital figure back then, gaining fans worldwide with his special enigmatic style.
After all, 2023 is a very different state to 2012, when the Tesla Model S first launched.
Anyone in the market offers electric vehicles now, from popular brands like Mercedes and Hyundai to startups like Rivian.
Moreover, Musk is viewed as a different boss, especially due to the drama of Twitter buying.
Musk attempted to back out of the Twitter deal, firing most of its staff as soon as he owned the platform.
He even publicly mocked a disabled employee.
According to the Vox site, Musk’s actions on Twitter are changing peoples’ opinions about owning a Tesla car.
Based on YouGov, a year ago, 17 percent of potential EV buyers said Tesla was their first choice.
But that number declined to 9 percent, outpaced by BMW and Toyota.
Furthermore, in the first quarter of 2022, Tesla’s US market share dropped to 58 percent.
Other brands provide more compelling options for customers, including Porsche and Hyundai.
There are other reasons why people might not want to buy Tesla right now.
The company is under investigation for its self-driving capabilities and ability to properly attach steering wheels.
