The sun continued releasing a powerful solar flare this week, causing radio blackouts over some parts of the US and Latin America.

According to the Space Weather Prediction Center of NOAA, the flare came from a sunpost region 3234 on February 28.

As it hit Earth, the flare interacted with the atmosphere and caused a signal loss below 30 MHz for around 30 minutes.

This event occurred just days after amazing auroras colored the night sky worldwide.

Want to know more about solar flares? Here we go.

Would a solar flare destroy batteries? A solar flare produces short bursts of electromagnetic radiation, which can destroy anything with a circuit.

How long can a solar flare knock out power? We could get outages for months if a solar flare produces massive geomagnetic storms.

How old is the sun left? The sun burns for about 9-10 billion years. Therefore, it still has five billion years to go.

Can a solar storm make you dizzy? Solar flares can cause health problems, such as difficulty in sleeping, nausea, extreme exhaustion, and dizziness.

Do solar storms affect people? Radiation from solar storms can give you radiation sickness or even cancer.

Flying a plane during a solar storm is extremely dangerous as the pilot may get cataracts.
