On Monday, a solar flare from the sun produced a solar storm that forced SpaceX to delay a Starlink launch as GPS signals were inaccurate.

The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) classified the geomagnetic storm as a strong G3 storm that subsided.

Eventually, launched its satellite around 4.5 hours after the initial schedule.

Besides SpaceX, a drilling rig in Saskatchewan, Canada, had to temporarily hold operations because of the solar storm.

Here are some more interesting trivia about a solar flare for you.

Do solar flares cause headaches? There is no correlation between headaches and geomagnetic activity, including geomagnetic storms.

How many more years will the Sun last? Before becoming a red giant, the sun still has about five billion years to go.

How do you prepare for a solar flare? You can do some things, including creating an emergency kit and preparing a plan for power outages.

Besides, keep your car’s gas tank filled, at least half full.

What could cause a global blackout? Some severe natural disasters can damage power grids on Earth, such as earthquakes, hurricanes,

and geomagnetic storms triggered by solar flares from the sun.

Could a solar flare destroy Earth knowing? The Earth’s atmosphere acts as a shield to protect us on the surface from cosmic radiation.

Solar flares can still reach ground level, but the amount of radiation is insignificant.
