Uber Technologies Inc Ready for Launching in Kelowna

Uber Technologies Inc is offering incentives of $1,000 to attract drivers, so hopefully, it can make a fast launch in Kelowna, Canada.

To claim the reward, drivers must complete their profile and get 20 trips in the first two weeks of Uber’s launch.

Keerthana Rang, Uber Technologies Inc’s corporate communication lead for Canada, said the company needs a lot of drivers.

They want to make sure to have enough supply for the demand and minimize wait times. Thus, Rang is encouraging drivers with Class 1, 2, and 4 licenses to sign up at uber.com.

Uber Victoria BC has applied for a riding license to cover all of B.C. outside Greater Vancouver in September, including Kelowna.

Therefore, it hopes to get rideshare up and running as soon as Uber gets approval from the Passenger Transportation Board.

It hasn’t received any update, even though Uber Technologies Inc hopes can start operation by Christmas. Uber Technologies Inc applied for a license in August 2020 but was rejected immediately.

The Passenger Transportation Board claimed the demand was down in Kelowna due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Besides Kelowna, Uber could eventually expand to places like Vernon, Kamloops, and Penticton.

After all, Uber Technologies Inc is preparing future expansion plans as there is demand for reliable transportation facilities across the province.

There are other ride-hailing operators in Kelowna and Greater Victoria, such as ReRyde and KABU.
