The defending national champions, Georgia Bulldogs, defeated the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff semifinal 42-41.

After winning the match at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta, Georgia Bulldogs will face the TCU Horned Frogs in the national championship.

Georgia had never allowed 21-plus points in any half this season. However, Ohio State could break that record by leading Georgia 28-24 at halftime.

After halftime, quarterback Stetson Bennett led the Bulldogs to fight back after trailing for most of the game.

In the first half, Georgia only led for a total of 55 seconds, and 54 seconds in the second half.

The match became more intense in the final seconds as Ohio State kicker Noah Ruggles missed the game-winning field goal.

That missed just caught the eye of Los Angeles Lakers superstar and notable Buckeyes fan, LeBron James.

Bennett finished with 398 total passing yards, with two crucial touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

The Mailman’s 190 pass yards are the highest any player has done in the fourth quarter of a CFP game.

Ryan Day, Ohio State's head coach, is now 39-2 when having a 14-pt lead in a game. However, those two losses have come on CFP’s biggest stage.

The first loss occurred against Clemson Tigers in the 2019 CFP semifinal.
