Game Awards 2023: Baldur’s Gate 3 Wins Game of the Year

The Game Awards 2023 revealed Baldur’s Gate 3 as the big winner by snagging six trophies, including the prestigious Game of the Year.

Baldur’s Gate 3 also earned prizes for Best RGP, Best Community Support, Players’ Voice, Best Multiplayer, and Best Performances (for Astarion actor Neil Newbon).

The 10th annual award was streamed live from Los Angeles, across more than 30 online platforms including Twitch, YouTube, TikTok Live, Facebook, and X.

Going into the event, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 had the most nominations each earning eight nods.

Survival horror game Alan Wake 2 received three trophies from the Game Awards 2023: Best Art Direction, Best Narrative, and Best Game Direction.

There were four other nominees for the Game of the Year category.

They were Resident Evil 4, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Accepting the award for the Game of the Year, Belgian developer Larian explained the epic fantasy based on Dragons and Dungeons was a labor of love.

Another notable win included the best adaptation winner The Last of Us TV series. Besides the winner's list, the ceremony was also packed with surprises.

Sega’s are going to reboot retro franchises like Streets of Rage, Crazy Taxi, Golden Age, Shinobi, and Jet Set Radio.
