The famed British singer-pianist Elton John has achieved EGOT status as he has won Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards.

He won an Emmy Award on Monday for best variety special for “Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium.” The three-hour concert documentary streamed on Disney+.

In a statement after winning his trophy, John said his journey has been filled with dedication, passion, and support from all around the world.

He has five Grammys, the last one was for “Elton John & Tim Rice’s Aida” in 2001.

John received two Oscars for “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” from “Rocketman” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from “The Lion King” in 1994.

Besides, his Tony award was awarded for John’s original score on “Aida.”

Elton John also holds the record for the biggest-selling physical single, including the 33 million copies sold for “Candle in the Wind” in 1997.

He became the 19th person to receive EGOT status after Viola Davis joined the club after winning a Grammy last year.

Other musicians who have EGOTs are Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, and Whoopi Goldberg. His Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour is currently going for the North American leg.

The tour began in September 2018 and has 300-plus scheduled dates. John’s final show drew more than 50,000 people.
