Chinese Electric Vehicle Startup Uses AI to Detect Driver’s Vital Signals

BeyonCa, an electric vehicle startup company from China, develops AI to monitor drivers’ health for serious incidents like heart attacks.

The company is led by Renault SA’s China head Soh Weiming and aims to start production in the first quarter of 2023.

The GT Opus 1 cars’ price starts at 898,000 yuan ($123,000) and goes up to 1.8 million yuan

Therefore, the new electric vehicle will compete with Porsche AG’s Taycan series and BMW AG’s 7 Series.

Technically, the car has cameras and sensors that can monitor the driver’s vital organs.

An AI assistant will speak to the driver if it detects abnormal symptoms, such as from the driver’s heart.

If there is no response from the driver, the autonomous system takes over and brings the electric vehicle to safety.

Later on, a virtual doctor will check on the patient through the smart screen.

Soh and his startup company have gathered many investors, including a commitment from Changjiang Capital for more than $1 billion.

He said BeyonCa wants to develop a sexy and sporty electric vehicle for China’s super-premium segment

Hence, BeyonCa will produce three to five models with a production of around 100,000 electric vehicle units a year.

It’s possible since China is the largest electric car market in the world.
