Martin Odegaard’s penalty secured a tight win 1-0 for Arsenal over Crystal Palace in their Premier League clash at Selhurst Park.
Both teams had multiple decent chances in the first half, including Eddie Nketiah’s chance in the 29th minute that hit the post.
The Gunners’ midfield created some good pressing and sent the ball high up the pitch.
Nketiah wasted another chance in the 36th minute as Declan Rice provided him a great through pass.
However, his attempted chip flew over the Crystal Palace’ crossbar.
Before the first half ended, Arsenal’s captain Odegaard sent a long-range shot outside the box but goalie Sam Johnstone can keep it safely.
Early in the second half, Nketiah fell in the box by Johnstone when he was running onto a quick free kick by Martinelli.
The referee pointed the spot and Odegaard successfully sent the ball at the goalie’s right-hand post.
Arsenal looked to get an easy win but defender Tomiyasu got his second yellow card for time-wasting at a throw-in.
Thus, he was sent off in the 67th minute and it made the time run slower for the visiting team.
Mikel Arteta made several defensive substitutions that caused problems for Crystal Palace.
The home team almost equalized the score, but a snap-shot by fullback Tyrick Mitchell flew wide at stoppage time.
The win from the Crystal Palace vs Arsenal match lifted The Gunners to third on six points. Meanwhile, Palace only have three points from the opening two games.
