After verbal arguments in the last five years, one of the most awaited boxing matches between Spence vs Crawford will happen on July 29.
At first, Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. argued in the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma in 2018.
The back-and-forth exchange made boxing fans hope to watch their boxing match soon.
However, a variety of reasons prevented the bout to be delivered five years ago.
Interestingly, Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs) and Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) fought each other with words outside the ring instead.
It’s quite rare for two undefeated boxers like Crawford and Spence to campaign at the same weight together.
Both of them are in their prime too.
Politics of boxing stood in the way, though, as Top Rank and PBC, Crawford’s and Spence’s promotional companies respectively, rarely conduct business with each other.
Last September, it seemed like they would finally have a match but the talks collapsed at the 11th hour.
Spence decided to move up to 154 pounds at that time for a summer match against Keith Turman, the former unified welterweight champion.
Then Crawford pushed the fight negotiations with a lengthy phone call in March to set the most anticipated boxing match since Mayweather-Pacquio in 2015.
They will enter the Spence vs Crawford ring on Saturday in Las Vegas with all major four welterweight titles on the line.
Crawford, the WBO champion, will meet Spence, who holds the WBC, WBA, and IBF titles.
