Real Madrid Beats Athletic Bilbao 2-0, Jude Bellingham Scores on La Liga Debut

Jude Bellingham just needed 36 minutes to deliver his first competitive goal for Real Madrid in their first La Liga game of the season.

Carlo Ancelotti and Los Blancos got a comfortable 2-0 win against Athletic Bilbao at San Mames.

At the beginning of the match, both sides struggled to raise the tempo.

But Real got the first chance when Federico Valverde sent a shot just over the crossbar.

Just before the half-hour mark, Real Madrid went ahead after Rodrygo played a one-two with Carvajal and beat Unai Simon at his near post.

Below 10 minutes later, Bellingham doubled the lead after successfully converting David Alaba’s corner kick.

His bouncing shot looped over Simon and met the back of the net.

Bellingham celebrated with arms thrown wide, drawing whistles from the home fans.

Bilbao tried to find a foothold in the second half, though, but they got no clear chance of a goal.

Alex Berenguer got the best chance for the home team when he got in behind.

But Aurelien Tchouameni quickly denied Berenguer’s chance.

The only negative thing for Real Madrid was a serious-looking injury to Eder Militao, who went down and had to be helped from the field.

Rodrygo became the man of the match since his opening goal swung the momentum in Real’s favor.
