The Jacksonville Jaguars get their positive outcome in the 2023 preseason opener with an overtime comeback 28-23 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The Jaguars’ coach Doug Pederson decided to put his starters from the beginning of the game against the Cowboys.
Hence, they had an unsurprising first-half domination throughout the match.
Tank Bigsby didn’t score any touchdowns for the Jaguars, but he was responsible for a few.
However, the Cowboys were still able to get a score toward the end of the first half.
They even took a one-point lead over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second half.
But the Dallas Cowboys’ mistakes and turnovers kept them from getting the win.
Despite the loss, the team did have some takeaways from the Cowboys game, though.
The smallest man on the squad, rookie Deuce Vaughn, showed why he deserves the running back 2 position from Tony Pollard.
Vaughn scored a touchdown and eight carries for 52 yards, and that made him a serious contender against Malik Davis (1 carry, 14 yards) and Rico Dowdle (6 carries, 21 yards).
Overall, the Cowboys’ offense was not impressive, but their defense finished with 340 yards.
One unusual thing for the Dallas, was they had just six penalties.
In the end, the Dallas Cowboys fall 28-23, the team’s straight loss in preseason openers.
