Elon Musk Acquires Twitter, Fires Top Executives

Elon Musk acquired Twitter and immediately fired CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and policy head and chief legal officer Vijaya Gadde.

Interestingly, Gadde was the key person who had decided to deactivate former US President Donald Trump’s account.

In 2018, Gadde had been involved in controversy, but she expressed an apology in a tweet. Moreover, the controversy also involved the then-Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey during his visit to India.

After months of negotiations, lawsuits, and drama, the wealthiest man in the world now owns the platform.

Besides sacking the former social media CEO, Elon Musk also changed his profile to “Chief Twit.” He wants to change Twitter into a more freewheeling place for all types of people.

Toxic content and misinformation are serious topics for the platform, but that was before Musk owned it.

Early tests will come soon when Brazil elects its president and American votes for the midterm elections on Nov. 8.

Elon Musk also promised other changes at Twitter, including new leadership and finding new ways to make money.

The platform has had difficulties in developing its advertising-based business despite employing more than 7,500 people.

Therefore, the firing of the top company executives was a clear sign that Musk wanted to move quickly.

He is indeed one of the most active Twitter users and owns more than 109 million followers.
